Environmental degradation in Mexico, particularly in the Altos Sur region of Jalisco, is reflected in issues such as deforestation, biodiversity loss, overexploitation of aquifers, and the pollution of water bodies.
This situation highlights the need to develop knowledge, skills, and experiences that enable the creation of solutions aimed at the conservation and responsible use of natural resources. In this context, environmental education plays a fundamental role, as it helps transform public awareness regarding the impact of human actions and strengthens the relationship between society and ecosystems.
Furthermore, it encourages new habits and attitudes focused on the care, conservation, and sustainable use of nature. In order to promote these initiatives, the Intermunicipal Environmental Board of Altos Sur (JIAS) encouraged the creation of the Regional Environmental Education Programme for Altos Sur of Jalisco (PREA), in collaboration with Aditivo Agencia.
This programme seeks to implement activities, events, and educational resources that strengthen environmental awareness throughout the region, fostering social participation and ecological consciousness in response to current environmental challenges.
