Cultural Chromatics: Color in the Costume of the “Sayón,” a Morelos Heritage Site

The transition from polychromy to monochrome during the Easter triduum in the Altos de Morelos region reveals the presence of an intangible element that falls into the visual category: color. from white to Mexican pink, passing through blue and green, in contrast to black and purple, are some of the many colors that make up the polychromatic visual spectrum of the “Sayón”, the same as with satin inishes, wall lights and the volume, are part of the clothing of this fragment of Intangible Cultural Heritage, a heritage that travels year after year, to the rhythm of the drum and the whistle, the streets of Tetela del Volcán since Holy Thursday, where color takes shape and becomes in a personal rhythmic movement, which is observed in all its splendor, until after the highest point of the largest star, on Easter Sunday, where the Holy Fire destroys it and turns it into ashes.
