Last September 2024, the first edition of the festival celebrating the more than 400-year friendship between Japan and Jalisco was held in downtown Zapopan. This article provides a brief overview of this festival called Japón Matsuri “Japan in Jalisco.” Over the course of three days, this multidisciplinary festival featured various activities focused on traditional Japanese culture, where members of this community and the Nikkei community, or descendants of Japanese immigrants, shared part of their ancestors' culture with the people of Jalisco. With the collaboration of various institutions such as El Colegio de Jalisco, the Center for Japanese Studies “CEJA” of the University of Guadalajara, Nikkei-Kai Guadalajara, and the Bonsai Club Guadalajara, they gathered in Zapopan so that the people of Jalisco could learn more about the culture of the rising sun.Downloads
