Abstract

This article examines the relationship between formal education in audiovisual production and its influence on the creative economy of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. Using a Cost-Consequence economic evaluation methodology, the study examines how three key institutions, the Autonomous University of Chiapas (UNACH), the Pablo Guardado Chávez University (UPGCH), and Descartes University, generate measurable economic benefits in the region. The study includes data analysis on student enrollment and interviews with administrative staff to obtain updated information about the student population in Tuxtla Gutiérrez. In conclusion, this article proposes that audiovisual education in Tuxtla Gutiérrez plays a key role in strengthening the local creative economy, not only due to its direct contribution to the market, but also because of its ability to foster cultural and social processes with measurable economic value.
