Gender as a variable of analysis in cultural heritage valuation studies

Authors

Keywords:

gender perspective, Valuation Studies, Cultural Heritage

Abstract

Valuation Studies of Cultural Heritage are scarce, and those specialized in gender perspective even more. This would imply conceptualizing gender as a determining variable whose economic impacts are relevant. This article reviews the existing literature on the Valuation of Cultural Heritage, accompanied by the objective of describing the way in which gender has been considered in the economic valuation of cultural assets. After a review of specialized databases, ambivalences were found in its appreciation as a variable, as well as results that are different; this confirms the relevance and importance and leaves a pending space of the Valuation Studies agenda.
