This research is about the importance of the iron railroads since the end of the 19th century in Mexico. It focuses mainly on the arrival of the train to Guadalajara and the subsequent project of the train to Chapala, a town famous for have the largest lake in Maxico, and its beautiful weather. The Norwegian Paul Christian Schejtnan was the protagonist of this project back in 1917, he worked very hard to get the train to Chapala, although his efforts did not produced the expected results. This investigation reviews very accurately, different articles published by national and foreign newspapers of the time, about the aforementioned train and the festivities around its inauguration that reflect the traditions of the society of those times.
